TODAY IN MUSIC: Rumours, the eleventh studio album by Fleetwood Mac, hit number one on the US album chart on April 2, 1977. Recorded at the Record Plant in Sausalito, California, the album was produced by the band with Ken Caillat and Richard Dashut. The studio sessions for Rumours were rife with personal conflicts among the band members and a full embrace of rock hedonism, all of which shaped the final album. Rumours was an immediate success. All four singles released from the album (“Go Your Own Way”, “Dreams” “Don’t Stop” and “You Make Loving Fun”) reached the Top 10, with “Dreams” becoming their first (and only!) number one song. Rumours was the top album in the United States for a total of 31 weeks and won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year. With sales of over 40 million copies, Rumours is in the top ten best selling albums of all time. #fleetwoodmac #rumours #recordplant #sausalito #california #70srock #kencaillat #richarddashut #goyourownway #dreams #dontstop #youmakelovingfun #grammy #albumoftheyear #tonyatlarge #eclectimaniacradioshow #todayinmusic #musichistory
