
TODAY IN MUSIC: On April 9, 1984, “Flashdance…What a Feeling” by Irene Cara, won the Oscar for Best Original Song at the 56th Annual Academy Awards. Written by Giorgio Moroder (music) and Keith Forsey and Irene Cara (lyrics), the track is the title song for the 1983 film “Flashdance” directed by Adrian Lyne and starring Jennifer Beals and Michael Nouri. The film opened to mostly negative reviews but was a box office hit, eventually becoming the third highest grossing film of the year.
