Today in Music: 5/23/19

TODAY IN MUSIC: On May 23, 2000, Eminem released his third studio album The Marshall Mathers LP. Produced by Dr. Dre, Eminem, the 45 King, the Bass Brothers and Mel-Man, the album was the follow-up to Eminem’s hugely successful breakthrough, The Slim Shady LP. The lyrical content of The Marshall Mathers LP examines the rapper’s rise to fame and the controversies surrounding his music. The album received critical acclaim upon release and has appeared on many critic’s lists as one of the greatest albums of all time. The Marshall Mathers LP became the fastest-selling studio album by a solo artist (a record Eminem held until being surpassed by Adele’s 25 in 2015) and won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. Five singles were released from the record: “The Real Slim Shady”, “The Way I Am”, “Stan”, “I’m Back”, and “Bitch Please II”. #eminem #themarshallmatherslp #drdre #the45king #45king #thebassbrothers #melman #theslimshadylp #adele #adele25 #grammyawards #bestrapalbum #therealslimshady #thewayiam #stan #imback #bitchplease #tonyatlarge #eclectimaniacradioshow #todayinmusic #musichistory
