TODAY IN MUSIC: On June 12, 2003, Phil Collins, Van Morrison, Little Richard and the members of Queen (John Deacon, Brian May, Freddie Mercury and Roger Taylor), were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame at the 34th annual induction and awards dinner held at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City. The event was executive produced by Phil Ramone and broadcast on the Bravo network. The National Academy of Popular Music/Songwriters Hall of Fame was founded in 1969 by songwriter Johnny Mercer and publishers Abe Olman and Howie Richmond. The NAPM/SHOF is also devoted to the development of new songwriting talent through workshops, showcases and scholarships.
