TODAY IN MUSIC: On June 13, 1979, The Cars released their second studio album Candy-O. Like on their self-titled debut album, the band again worked with Queen producer Roy Thomas Baker. The record received positive reviews and peaked at #3 on the Billboard 200 album chart. The album’s cover art was created by artist Alberto Vargas, noted for his paintings of pin-up girls that appeared in Playboy and Esquire magazines. The model used for the cover (coincidentally named Candy Moore) was an actress best know for playing Lucille Ball’s onscreen daughter on The Lucy Show. Three singles were released from Candy-O: “Let’s Go” (the band’s first top twenty hit), “It’s All I Can Do”, and “Double Life”. #thecars #candyo #roythomasbaker #billboard200 #albertovargas #painters #pinups #playboy #playboymagazine #esquiremagazine #candymoore #lucilleball #thelucyshow #letsgo #itsallicando #doublelife #tonyatlarge #eclectimaniacradioshow #todayinmusic #musichistory
